Transition Story - The Cramers
“We are so grateful for this new opportunity at Clemson University. This community and program has been welcoming and inclusive. To get experience the new chapter we had to go through a transition period.
We were very lucky with our transition period because we weren’t in job limbo for too long. However, there most definitely was some uncertainty that came with it. When we were let go at Mississippi State, we both felt a sense of relief due to the heaviness the prior year had given us with experiencing 3 deaths within our program. So when we were told we weren’t getting retained, we both felt a sense of relief knowing we can now start our next chapter fresh. We will be forever grateful for our time spent working for Coach Leach and the lessons he provided us along the way.
Learning to not feel resentment when job transitions happen has come with time and personal growth that we have both done and continue to work on. We choose to change our perspective into our purpose. Meaning, we choose to view our roles in the industry as making a difference in others lives, while being a light in the community for the amount of time we have been blessed to be a part of the program.
With that being said, the uncertainty set in with not knowing when our next opportunity was going to come along. We knew God was going to provide our next chapter, but our faith was tested on WHEN it was going to happen.
So with all of that being said, the biggest piece of advice that we can give families going thru a difficult job transition would be to lean into your faith even more. We are very firm in our faith in God, and we knew that He would deliver us thru that difficult season, knowing that He would bring us to a brand new chapter and somewhere we can start fresh. As you start to lean into your faith, realize and understand that as God provides during a hard season, continue to work on your faith even more when things are going well.
Most importantly, it’s hard to accept that your job is potentially in someone else’s hands, and waiting for that phone call can seem like a lifetime. But remember, God’s timing is more important and satisfying than our own.
We also feel so grateful for each transition period we have been a part of. We have become stronger as a couple and resilient with changes. It is tough. There is so much unknown waiting on “the call”.
The More Than a Season community provided so much support and kindness throughout our journey as well. We will always be grateful for those that reached out and let us know that they were in our corner throughout the transition period.
Turn your perspective into purpose.”
